What a cookie is
A small file a website asks your browser to keep and hand back on the next request. It is how a site remembers anything at all between one page and the next — including, on some sites, who you are and where else you have been.
A short page, because this is a short list: nothing on this site tracks you, and the only cookies it sets exist to keep our own staff signed in.

No analytics, no advertising, no social pixels, no fingerprinting and no cross-site tracking of any kind. Browsing the public pages — home, services, industries, case studies, contact — sets no cookies at all, which is why there is no consent banner to dismiss.
Two, both strictly necessary, and both only for signed-in Anode staff using the admin panel. The first is the authentication session: it keeps an administrator signed in between page loads and expires when the session ends or they sign out. The second is a short-lived preview flag, set only while an administrator has the live page editor open, which tells the site to show unpublished draft content in the editing frame instead of what the public sees.
Some pages embed a background video and photography served from other hosts. Those requests reach the host serving the file, which can see your IP address and may set cookies of its own under its policy rather than ours. Nothing on this site instructs them to identify you.
Every browser can list, block and delete cookies per site, usually under Privacy or Site settings. Blocking cookies for this domain costs you nothing as a visitor — the public site works exactly the same. It does make the admin panel unusable, which only matters if you are one of our engineers.
If we ever add something that sets a cookie for visitors rather than staff, this page changes first and the date at the top moves with it.
Ask us anything on this page and a person will answer.
